What is Job Design?
“Job design
is the process of deciding on the contents of a job in terms of its duties and
responsibilities, on the methods to be used in carrying out the job, in term of
techniques, systems, and procedures, and on the relationships that should exist
between the jobholder and his superiors, subordinates, and colleagues”
Elements of Work Design
Job design
refers to how specific work-related tasks are arranged to achieve optimal
levels of efficiency and individual accomplishment. Good job design considers
the company's performance needs along with individual employee skills, needs,
and motivation. The different elements that fall under consideration include
the tasks that need to be performed, job enlargement, job rotation, and job
enrichment.
Theoretical Models of Job Design
Organizations
may employ various theoretical approaches for job design. These include
Taylorism, Socio-Technical Systems Approach, Core Characteristics Model, and
Psychological Empowerment Theory. Each approach emphasizes different aspects to

Work design is an important factor in each organization. When we talk about the it in the spice producing industry it is very important to explain the job role to each employees once they get in onboard. Job role doing a major role in an organization. Work design is the way which we can identify performance of each employees. According to Mslow's Motivation Theory individual appreciation is helping to motivate employees. If we are expecting higher productivity we need to satisfy employees. So for that we have to make great work place
Yes, I agreed with You, Jayamuthu
With a proper job design strategy, employees motivate to work hard & but it becomes enjoyable. As I think this is very good method to satisfy your workforce.
The JDS consists of seven scales measuring variety, autonomy, task identity, significance, job feedback, feedback from others, and dealing with others. Prior to the development of viable alternatives, the JDS was the most commonly used job design measure.

Anjula I agreed with you. The JDS contain the informative document which the scope, tasks, duties, responsibilities along with the working conditions linked with the the working conditions.
Prasitha I agree with you, we should go through the technology to minimize challenges.
To meet the increasing demand for functional food and changing consumer habits, the food processing industry is shifting from flow manufacturing to batch manufacturing. As a consequence, job-shop (JS) systems are progressively developing to replace traditional food-processing systems. Such systems are characterized by high complexity in their design and management due to the high number of entities involved (i.e., products, components and parts, resources or workshops, operators, handling tools), the technological and operational constraints (i.e., working cycle, shop throughput, set-up tasks), and the layout issues (i.e., flow lines, congestions, bottlenecks). Accordingly, HR department should develop proper job designs align with business requirements in order to gain a competitive advantage within the industry.
I agree with you Savindi. In this industry, HRM should be used modern strategies to maintain employees.
As you mentioned to your sector as a sector with a continuous market, the work sector is a very important factor. The employee can get a productive service by allocating his part of the duty. At the same time, having the relevant employees in each sector increases the corporate productivity
Kavishika Thanks for commenting. To maintain proper productivity company need its full capacity of employees. otherwise getting performance is difficult.
